Prevent corona virus Stop Covid-19
How to Protect Yourself from COVID-19

As the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the globe, it is more important than ever to take steps to protect yourself from this deadly virus. Here are three primary ways that you can protect yourself from the corona virus.

Wash Your Hands: The cornerstone of good personal hygiene is proper handwashing. You need to wash your hands for at least 30 seconds using soap and warm water. Dry the hands thoroughly with a clean and dry towel. The gold standard for handwashing is simple soap and water. However, hand sanitizer can be used in a pinch if you do not have access to running water and soap. Be sure to choose a sanitizer that has an alcohol concentration of at least 60%. You need to wash your hands before and after eating, after using the restroom, and after being out in public.

Wear a Mask: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is now recommending that people wear protective masks when out in public, especially if it is difficult to maintain proper social distancing protocols. The CDC is recommending the use of cloth masks so that you can leave the surgical masks for health care providers. If you cannot find a mask, you easily make one using materials that you have around the house and by watching a video tutorial. Be sure that the mask covers both your mouth and nose. It is also important to educate yourself about how to take it off properly so that you do not inadvertently scatter germs. Not only will you be protecting yourself by wearing a mask, but you will also protect the others around you.

Boost Your Immune System: In addition to direct steps such as handwashing and mask-wearing, you can take steps to boost your overall immune system so that your body is prepared to fight the virus if exposed. Give your body the best chance against COVID-19 by nourishing it with the right foods and nutrients. Focus on eating a wide array of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables supplemented with whole grains and lean proteins. Some of the best foods to boost your immune system include berries, watermelon, wheat germ, spinach, low-fat yogurt fortified with probiotics, sweet potatoes, garlic, and lean meats like fish and chicken. It is also important to drink plenty of water and avoid processed foods and alcohol in excess. Making it a habit to regularly exercise adds another layer of protection to your body. Round out your efforts by getting plenty of rest.

While you can never protect yourself completely from the corona virus, taking these three steps will reduce your risk of contracting the virus.
